on a wildlife/cultural safari with Peter and Cecilia
Special
Supplement Summary - African Excursions is offering a special
9 day supplement to our Kuru Dance Festival Safari. This supplement
starts out in the town of Livingstone, Zambia where we'll spend
two days checking out Victoria Falls and the mighty Zambezi River.
We then cross over to Kasane, Botswana. Then we'll take the next
five days to enjoy the incredible wildlife of Chobe National Park,
Savuti, and Moremi Game Reserve as we drive through these world
renown parks from Kasane to Maun. We'll spend an extra day in Maun
and visit a typical Tswana village. We then catch up with the beginning
of the Kuru Dance Festival Safari itinerary.
Below is a
detailed itinerary:

Detailed itinerary:
Aug 3-Aug 11
Leave
the US on Saturday August 2nd (Guests are responsible for
arranging for their own commercial flights, however, we can recommend
a ticket consolidator who has great prices on tickets to Africa)
Day
1 (August 3rd) - Arrive Livingstone, Zambia via commercial airline,
where we'll be waiting to welcome you to Africa. The evening will
be spent relaxing and getting acquainted.
Day
2 Today we'll visit the awe inspiring Victoria Falls and look
around Livingstone. There are a number of adventure activities available
here and we can arrange for them as an extra to the trip. Just email
to ask about what's available.
Day
3 We spend the morning with a last visit to the falls then
take a leisurely paced drive to Kasane, Botswana. In the evening
we go on a sundowner cruise along the Zambezi to watch the elephants
come down to drink.
Day
4 We continue due southwest through Chobe
National Park which has the largest concentration of elephants
in the world. We'll spend the night at a campsite in Savuti.
Day
5 We'll explore the area around Savuti, with a bit of luck
we just might find the famous Savuti pride of lions, known for their
rare habit of preying on elephants. We'll spend a second night at
the same campsite in Savuti.

Day
6 We again head southwest, over the Magwikwe Sand Ridge which
defines the northern shoreline of the Makgadikgadi mega-lake that
existed in wetter times and before tectonic shifts, onto Moremi
Game Reserve
and then the Okavango Delta. Moremi is the absolute greatest game
viewing place in the world with a different animal behind every
bush. We'll spend the next two nights camping in the northern part
of the reserve.
Day
7 We'll take the whole day to explore the fascinating Okavango
Delta. In the morning we'll meet up with some local guides and go
on a mokoro ride to get a close up view of the watery side of the
Delta. In the evening we'll venture into the mopane forests and
open dry flood plains.
Day
8 After a morning game drive and lunch at the lodge, we'll
drive to Maun. We'll be spending the next two nights at Marina's
Lodge. We love Marina's; a cozy spot where we have spent many nights
with our close friends Marina, her husband Paul and their daughter
Ashley.
Day
9 This is the first day of the Kuru Dance Festival Safari.
For those on this supplement, we'll visit a nearby village which
still retains much of the traditional culture.
The
price for this supplement is an additional $3,000 per person and
must be added taken as an addition to the Kuru
Dance Festival Safari.
