Special Add-on Adventures

Hunting

We have access to private game farms in the Ghanzi District. The beauty and draw of these farms is that they are markedly under utilized. Come spend three days hunting plains game while the rest of the family enjoys experiencing the Kalahari with the San bushman and learning amazing survival skills. Along with awesome photographs, why not take home a trophy Kudu or Gemsbok too? See the hunting prices for rates.

It only took me 44 years to get this trophy

Fishing

Botswana has excellent fishing for tiger fish and bream on the Okavango River. The former are considered one of the world's great freshwater fighting fish, and weigh up to nearly 10 kg. Bream provide good sport, too, and are delicious to eat. In addition, there are large catfish, some of which grow to great sizes and may weigh in excess of 8 kg. We'll set you up at our friends' Barry and Elaine Price, who have run a lovely fishing lodge on the banks of the Okavango River for over twenty years. Their knowledge of the river is immense and their prices are extremely affordable. They can also take you on a day trip out to Tsodilo Hills. Prices start at $100 per person per day (includes all meals, accomodations, and fishing).

We also can arrange for excellent saltwater fishing in Namibia. There are options for both boat and surf fishing. The northern Namibian coast is incredible! The desert, barren red sands and mountainous dunes comes right up to the sea where the fishing is spectacular!

Walking

One of our biggest accomplishments while living in Botswana was to help develop, market, and manage two fundraising walks for Y-Care Charitable Trust. Y-Care is the brain child of Dr. Nomsa Mbere. These two walks, one that covered 300 kilometers across the Makgadikgadi Pans, and the other, 175 kilometers along the Okavango River and out to Tsodilo Hills, raised over $35,000(US) for local charities. The walks happen every year in June and July and we can arrange for adventurous and athletic walkers to participate. Please e-mail us if this interests you. Read Cecilia's "Notes from the bush" for a commentary on our experiences while conducting the walk.

The walks require a $1,500 donation and $250 per day for food and accommodations.
